Connecting PS3 to Technika TV: Complete Setup Guide for HDMI, Component, SCART, and Composite

Technika TVs (budget UK brand) have standard inputs. Connect PS3 via best available:

1. HDMI (Best — Digital, 1080p, Audio+Video)

  1. PS3 **HDMI OUT** → Technika **HDMI IN** (1/2/3).
  2. TV Source → Select that HDMI.
  3. PS3: Settings → Display → Video Output → **HDMI → Automatic** → Yes.
  4. Audio: Settings → Sound → Audio Output → **HDMI**.

2. Component / YPbPr (Analog HD, 1080i/720p)

  1. PS3 **AV MULTI OUT** → **Component Cable** (Red/Green/Blue video + Red/White audio) → TV **Component In**.
  2. TV Source → Component / YPbPr.
  3. PS3: Video Output → **Component / D-Terminal** → 1080i / 720p.

3. SCART RGB (Best Analog for PAL PS3)

  1. PS3 **AV MULTI OUT** → **SCART RGB Cable** (not composite!) → TV **SCART** (usually AV1).
  2. TV Source → AV1 / SCART.
  3. PS3: Video Output → **SCART** → **RGB** (not Composite).

4. Composite (Yellow/Red/White) — Last Resort

  • 480i only. Blurry on modern TVs. Use only if no other input.

Critical Settings

  • PS3 → Settings → Display → Screen Resolution: Uncheck 1080p if TV is 720p native (many Technikas).
  • TV → Picture Mode: "Game" or "PC" mode (lowest input lag). Disable: Dynamic Contrast, Noise Reduction, Motion Smoothing.
  • Overscan: If edges cut off, PS3 → Screen Size → "Full Pixel" / TV → Aspect → "Just Scan" / "1:1".

No Picture?

  1. Hold PS3 power 5 sec (2 beeps) → **Video Reset** (defaults to 480p/HDMI).
  2. Try another HDMI cable / port.
  3. Test PS3 on another TV.
