Every Kinect Game Worth Playing (Xbox 360 & Xbox One)

Kinect (Xbox 360 / Xbox One) enabled controller-free gaming. Servers/game updates stopped, but local play works forever. Best titles by category:

🏃 Action & Fitness

  • Kinect Adventures! (Pack-in) – Rafting, rallyball, space bubbles. Still fun.
  • Dance Central Series (1, 2, 3, Spotlight) – Best Kinect games. Harmonix. Full-body dance tracking, licensed music, great UI.
  • Your Shape: Fitness Evolved (2010/2012) – Ubisoft. Personal trainer, yoga, cardio, floor tracking.
  • Nike+ Kinect Training – Athletic drills, precise form tracking
  • Xbox Fitness (Free w/ Gold) – Jillian Michaels, P90X, Insanity – service dead, but downloaded workouts still play offline.

🎮 Party & Family

  • Kinect Sports (1 & 2) – Bowling, boxing, tennis, soccer, track, skiing. Rare quality.
  • Kinect Sports Rivals (Xbox One) – Avatar scanning, climbing, wake racing, target shooting. Best graphics.
  • Fruit Ninja Kinect – Slice fruit with arms. Addictive, great for kids.
  • Kinect Disneyland Adventures – Explore park, meet characters, mini-games (autograph, parade)
  • Kinect Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure – Run through Toy Story, Cars, Up, Incredibles worlds
  • Sesame Street TV / Kinect Sesame Street TV – Interactive episodes. Educational.

🎯 Unique / Core Experiences

  • Child of Eden – Rez spiritual successor. Synesthesia shooter. Best with Kinect.
  • Gunstringer – Marionette shooter. Twisted Pixel humor. Kinect-only.
  • Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor – Mech sim (Kinect + Controller). Infamous for Kinect failures – but ambitious.
  • Fable: The Journey – On-rails magic shooter. Pretty, short.
  • Forza Horizon 4 (Xbox One) – Kinect head-tracking (ANNA) – look apex. Not full control.
  • Kinect Star Wars – Podracing, Jedi duels, Rancor rampage. Mixed reviews, fun moments.

🔧 Non-Gaming Uses (Still Work)

  • Sign-in / Voice Commands: "Xbox On", "Go to [Game]", "Record That"
  • Skype / Video Chat: 1080p wide-angle. Auto-zoom/track
  • IR Blaster (Xbox One Kinect): Controls TV/STB/AVR volume/power
  • Developer Mode (Xbox One): Kinect v2 SDK apps (body tracking, room scan)

Hardware Notes

  • Xbox 360 Kinect: Requires separate power supply (wall wart) for Slim/Original 360. E model has dedicated port
  • Xbox One Kinect: Proprietary adapter needed for Xbox One S/X (discontinued, expensive used). Works natively on launch Xbox One
  • PC: Both work via USB (360 Kinect = hacked drivers; Kinect v2 = official SDK)

Start With: Dance Central Spotlight (Xbox One, free base + DLC songs) or Kinect Sports (360/One). Pure fun, shows tech best.
