This classic puzzle (often called "3D Squares" or "Instant Insanity" variant) uses 27 small cubes — each face painted Red, White, or Black (9 each). Goal: Assemble a 3×3×3 cube where each of the 6 faces is a solid color.

Piece Types (by visible faces in final cube)

• 8 Corners: 3 colored faces visible.
• 12 Edges: 2 colored faces visible.
• 6 Centers: 1 colored face visible.
• 1 Core: 0 colored faces (hidden inside).

Each of the 27 cubes has a fixed coloring. You must orient & position them correctly.

Solving Strategy

1. Identify the Core: The one cube with no painted faces (or all hidden). Place it center.
2. Solve One Face First (e.g., Red):
   • Find the Red Center (only 1 red face). Place at face center.
   • Find 4 Red Edges (red + one other color). Place around center, matching adjacent colors.
   • Find 4 Red Corners (red + two others). Place in corners, matching both adjacent edges.
3. Build Adjacent Faces: Use the already-placed edges/corners as constraints. The non-red faces on those pieces determine the colors of the neighboring faces (White/Black).
4. Propagate & Check: Each placed piece locks colors for 1-3 faces. Work systematically. If contradiction → backtrack.
5. Final Face: The last face (opposite your start) auto-solves if all else is correct.

Key Insight

This is a constraint satisfaction problem. The coloring of each cube is a fixed constraint. There is usually one unique solution (up to rotation).
