Can the Host Kick Players in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2011)? No — Here's How It Works

No. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2011), the match host cannot kick players. The game uses a listen-server model (host is a player), but exposes no kick command.

How Problematic Players Are Handled

  • In-game reporting: Pause → "Report Player" → categories: Cheating, Offensive Language, Griefing, etc. Sent to Activision/Infinity Ward.
  • Vote to kick: Not in MW3. Added in later CoDs (e.g., Black Ops 2 custom games).
  • Host migration: If host quits, host migrates to best connection. No kick power transfers.
  • Dedicated servers (PC only): Some PC mods (IW4M-Admin, MW3SA) add admin commands (!kick, !ban)—but these are community-run, not official.

Why No Host Kick?

  • Prevents host abuse (kicking better players, friends-only lobbies).
  • Console peer-to-peer architecture lacks auth hierarchy.
  • Activision centralizes enforcement via reporting/telemetry.

If You're Hosting a Private Match

  • Set to "Invite Only" or "Friends Only."
  • Kick via "Manage Party" → "Remove from Party" (pre-game only).
  • In-game: no kick. Only option = end match for everyone.

For moderation: report, block, and avoid. Host kick doesn't exist in MW3.
