What Do You Call Beating a Video Game? Terms by Completion Level

There's no single term—usage depends on context and completion level:

  • Beat / Finished / Completed – Reached credits / final boss.
  • Cleared – Common in arcade/Japanese games ("1CC" = 1-Credit Clear).
  • Conquered / Mastered – Implies high skill or difficulty.
  • 100% – All collectibles, achievements, side quests, max stats.
  • Platinum / 1000G – Earned all trophies (PlayStation) / achievements (Xbox).
  • Speedran – Completed rapidly, often with glitches/optimization.
  • Rolled credits – Casual phrasing for story completion.

Nuance

  • "Beat" = victory condition met.
  • "100%" / "Platinum" = completionist standard.
  • "Cleared" = arcade/shmup tradition.

Say whatever feels right—gamers understand all of them.
