Implementing a Lives System in a Maker 7 Pac-Man Game

Maker 7 doesn't have a built-in "lives" block, but you can implement a fully functional lives system using variables and logic blocks.

Step-by-Step Implementation

  1. Create a variable: Name it lives. Set initial value to 3 (or your desired starting lives).
  2. Detect collisions: Use a collision block between Pac-Man and each ghost.
  3. Decrement on hit: When collision occurs → set lives to lives - 1.
  4. Game Over check: Add a condition: if lives = 0 then trigger Game Over.
  5. Reset on restart: When Game Over triggers (or level restarts) → set lives to 3.
  6. Visual feedback (optional): Display 3 Pac-Man icons; hide one each time lives decreases.

Example Logic Flow

When Pac-Man collides with Ghost:
    Set lives = lives - 1
    Update lives display

When lives = 0:
    Show "Game Over" screen
    Set lives = 3
Reset level / Return to menu

This approach works entirely within Maker 7's visual scripting—no code injection needed. Adapt the sprite/UI to match your game's style.
