Pokémon Migration Chain: Gen I → II → III → IV → V → VI+ — No Skipping Generations

Pokémon migration follows a generational chain. You cannot skip generations—each transfer moves Pokémon one generation forward.

Key Rules

  • No direct Gen I → Gen III+; must pass through Gen II.
  • Held items do not transfer (lost in Pal Park/Poké Transfer).
  • Pokémon Bank (3DS) stores Gen V+ only; cannot accept GB/GBA directly.
  • Pokémon HOME (Switch/Mobile) is the current hub for Gen VI onward.
