How to Play Minesweeper: Logic Over Luck

Basics

  • Grid: Hidden mines under some squares. Goal: reveal all safe squares.
  • Left-click: Reveal square.
    • Number = adjacent mines (0–8)
    • Blank = zero adjacent (auto-reveals neighbors)
    • Mine = Game Over
  • Right-click: Flag suspected mine (toggle: flag → ? → clear).
  • Win: All non-mine squares revealed.

Core Logic Patterns

  • 1-1 Pattern: Two adjacent "1"s sharing two unrevealed squares → both are mines.
  • 1-2 Pattern: "1" and "2" sharing three squares → deduce the third mine.
  • Edge Logic: Border squares have fewer neighbors — easier to solve.
  • Chord Click: Left+Right on a revealed number with all mines flagged → auto-reveal remaining neighbors.

Tips

  • Start on Beginner (9×9, 10 mines).
  • First click is always safe (modern versions).
  • Don't guess — use logic. If forced, pick the lowest-probability square.
  • Practice builds pattern recognition.

Minesweeper is pure logic. No luck needed once you learn the patterns.
