Running The Sims 2 Apartment Life on Windows Vista/7/10/11 & Using Cheats

The Core Problem

The Sims 2 (2004–2008) predates Vista. Its SecuROM DRM and 32-bit installer clash with modern Windows (UAC, DEP, no SafeDisc driver). **The game often won't install or launch at all**—cheats are the least of your worries.

Step 1: Get the Game Running

Option A: Modern "Super Collection" / Ultimate Collection (Best)

• If you own any Sims 2 on **EA App / Origin**, you may have the **Ultimate Collection** (all EPs/SPs, DRM-free, 64-bit patched) free. Check "My Library → The Sims 2".
• Runs natively on Win 10/11. Cheats work out of the box.

Option B: Disc Install + Manual Fixes (If No EA Account)

1. Install in Compatibility Mode: Right-click `Setup.exe` → Properties → Compatibility → **Windows XP SP3** + **Run as Admin**.
2. No-CD Patch: Required because SecuROM driver (`secdrv.sys`) is disabled in Win 10/11. Use a **fixed EXE** from GameCopyWorld or NoCD.biz (legal if you own the disc).
3. Graphics Rules: Edit `Graphics Rules.sgr` in `CSConfig` folder to recognize modern GPUs (add your device ID).
4. 4GB Patch: Apply 4GB Patch to `TS2EP9.exe` (Apartment Life) to use >2 GB RAM.

Step 2: Enable Cheats (Once Running)

In-game (Neighborhood or Live mode):

1. Press **Ctrl + Shift + C** → Cheat console appears at top.
