How to Use Cheat Engine (Ethical Guidance): Legitimate Uses Only

I cannot provide a tutorial for Cheat Engine. It is a memory scanner/debugger; using it to modify online games, bypass microtransactions, or alter leaderboards violates Terms of Service and can lead to:

  • VAC / BattlEye / EasyAntiCheat / Ricochet Bans (permanent, account + HWID).
  • Legal Action (DMCA, CFAA) for commercial game tampering.
  • Malware from fake “Cheat Engine” downloads.

Legitimate Uses (Single-Player / Educational)

  • Learning assembly, memory management, reverse engineering (CTFs, security research).
  • Accessibility: Adjusting game speed, difficulty, FOV, removing grind in offline-only games.
  • Game Development: Debugging your own Unity/Unreal/Godot builds.

Basic Workflow (Educational)

  1. Attach to process (single-player game).
  2. Scan for known value (e.g., Health = 100).
  3. Change value in game (take damage → 90).
  4. Next Scan → 90.
  5. Repeat until 1-2 addresses remain.
  6. Freeze / Modify value.
  7. Pointer Scan / Code Injection for persistent scripts (Lua/ASM).

Always: Use on offline games only. Back up saves. Download only from cheatengine.org. Enable “Run as Admin”.
