Are There Cheat Codes for Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi? No—Unlockables Are Earned Through Play

There are no official cheat codes for Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi (PS2/Wii) or Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors (GBA)—often confused as "Fury." The series is built on unlockables earned through gameplay.

Legitimate Unlock Paths

Budokai Tenkaichi Series (PS2/Wii)

  • Story Mode (Dragon History): Complete sagas → unlock characters, stages, costumes.
  • Ultimate Battle / World Tournament: Win with specific conditions (time, health remaining, specific character).
  • Data Shop (Tenkaichi 3): Spend Zenie (earned in battle) on characters, items, music, videos.
  • Duelling / Evolution Z: Grind for capsules (abilities), red potaras (ultimate moves).
  • Disc Fusion (Tenkaichi 2 + 3): Insert Tenkaichi 2 disc when prompted in Tenkaichi 3 → unlocks extra characters.

Supersonic Warriors (GBA)

  • Complete Story Mode with each character.
  • Win Tournament modes on higher difficulties.
  • Link Cable multiplayer unlocks (requires 2 carts + 2 GBAs).

Warning on "Cheats"

  • Action Replay / GameShark (PS2): Codes exist (infinite health, all chars unlocked) but frequently corrupt saves, freeze during loading, or break event triggers.
  • Wii Homebrew (Gecko Codes / Ocarina): Risks brick, Wii Menu corruption, online ban (Wiimmfi).
  • Mods (PC Emulation - PCSX2 / Dolphin): Safer—save states, cheat menus, texture packs. But offline only.

The Real Path to Mastery

Tenkaichi's depth—movement canceling, vanish timing, blast stock management, character-specific combos—rewards practice. The "cheat" is lab time. Watch high-level play (YouTube: "Tenkaichi 3 high level," "DBZBT3 tournaments"). Learn the engine. The satisfaction of a perfect vanish-counter into Ultimate Blast is earned.
