Action Replay V1.8 GameCube: No Manual Code Entry

Action Replay V1.8 for GameCube does NOT allow manual code entry. It only activates pre-loaded codes on the cartridge.

How It Works

  • Pre-loaded Database: Cartridge contains ~10,000 codes for ~500 games.
  • Selection: Boot AR → Select game → Check codes → Start game with codes active.
  • No Keyboard/Input: Cannot type new codes — no text entry interface.

Devices That Allow Custom Codes

  • CodeBreaker (Datel): PS2/GC — manual entry via on-screen keyboard, save to memory card.
  • Gecko OS (Homebrew): Wii/GC (via Wii BC) — loads .gct code files from SD, supports Ocarina (runtime hooking).
  • Wiird / Gecko.NET: PC debugger → live memory editing on Wii/GC.

Modern Approach

  1. Install Homebrew Channel on Wii (Letterbomb/BlueBomb).
  2. Run Gecko OS or Nintendont (GC loader).
  3. Download .gct code files from GameShark, CodeJunkies, or GitHub repos.
  4. Place in /codes/ on SD/USB → Enable in loader.

AR V1.8 is a relic — use Gecko OS for flexible, updateable codes.
