BioShock 2 (PS3) Cheat Codes: None Exist—Here's Why

BioShock 2 on PlayStation 3 has no built-in cheat code menu, button-sequence cheats, or console commands. 2K Games / Irrational / 2K Marin did not include any.

What About Mods / Save Editors?

  • PS3 Modding: Requires a CFW (Custom Firmware) PS3 (HEN/Rebug) + tools like Save Wizard (paid) or Apollo (homebrew). Not possible on stock firmware.
  • Save Editing: Can modify ADAM, plasmids, weapon upgrades, research progress. Risks:
    • Corrupted save → loss of progress.
    • Trophy sync issues (may flag account).
    • Online leaderboards (if any remain) – not applicable since multiplayer servers shut down 2014.
  • PC Version: If you own BioShock 2 Remastered on Steam, trainers (WeMod, FLiNG) and console commands (~ key) exist. This does not transfer to PS3.

Legitimate Ways to Adjust Difficulty

  • Difficulty Settings: Easy / Normal / Hard – change anytime in Options.
  • Vita-Chambers: Disable "Vita-Chamber Respawn" in Gameplay Options for a true survival challenge (no free respawns).
  • Plasmid / Weapon Combos: Experiment—Electro Bolt + Shotgun, Incinerate! + Drill, Telekinesis + Explosive Barrels.
  • Research Camera: Fully research every enemy type for damage bonuses and tonic slots.

Why No Cheats?

BioShock 2 is a narrative-driven immersive sim. Cheats undermine the resource-scarcity tension and moral choice weight (Little Sisters) central to the design. The game is balanced to be completed on Normal without exploits.

Play it as intended: conserve ammo, hack everything, choose your path. Rapture rewards the prepared mind.
