Nintendo DSi Point Card Prices: What They Cost & Why They're Now Collectibles

There was never a single global price for Nintendo DSi Point cards. Costs varied significantly by country, currency, and denomination (typically 500, 1000, or 2000 Points). Higher-point cards usually offered slightly better per-point value.

Why Prices Differed

  • Regional MSRP: Nintendo set different prices for each market (USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, etc.).
  • Denomination tiers: 2000-point cards often cost less per point than 500-point cards.
  • Retailer markup: Physical stores frequently charged above MSRP; online vendors were often cheaper.

How to Find Historical Prices

  1. PriceCharting.com – Tracks historical retail and secondary market prices.
  2. eBay "Sold" listings – Filter by region and condition for real transaction data.
  3. Archived Nintendo sites – Check Wayback Machine captures of nintendo.com, nintendo.co.uk, nintendo.eu for official MSRP.

Critical Context: The Shop Is Closed

The Nintendo DSi Shop shut down on March 31, 2017. Points can no longer be redeemed for new purchases. Any unused codes are now collector's items only—valuable to completionists, useless for buying games. If you find sealed cards, they're memorabilia, not currency.
