The first invention by Nintendo was playing cards!
While they are most famous for their video game consoles, Nintendo's roots lie in playing card manufacturing. The company was founded in 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi as Nintendo Koppai (Nintendo Playing Card) in Kyoto, Japan.
It wasn't until much later, in the 1960s, that Nintendo ventured into the world of toys and video games.
