Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (WFC) Games in 2024: Online Dead, Offline Alive

Nintendo WFC shut down May 20, 2014. Online multiplayer for all WFC games is permanently dead.

What Still Works

• Offline Single-Player: 100% functional (campaigns, modes, unlocks).
• Local Multiplayer: DS-to-DS, Wii split-screen, Wii LAN – no internet needed.
• Wii Shop / DSi Shop: Both closed (2019 / 2017). No new purchases.

Unofficial Online (Use at Own Risk)

• Wiimmfi: Fan-run server replacing WFC for Mario Kart Wii, Brawl, Pokémon, etc. Requires homebrew/patch.
• AltWFC / RiiConnect24: Other community servers.
• Emulators (Citra, Dolphin, melonDS): Netplay via Wiimmfi or direct connect.

Officially: Online = Gone. Offline = Forever playable.
