Fix Warcraft III Connection Issues: Can't Join Online Games

Warcraft III (Classic or Reforged) connection failures usually stem from network, Battle.net, or configuration issues. Follow this checklist in order.

1. Baseline Connectivity

  • Test: Open browser → battle.net, blizzard.com, google.com.
  • Restart modem/router (power cycle 30 sec).
  • Try phone hotspot → isolates home network issues.

2. Battle.net Server Status

3. Client & Game Integrity

  1. Open Battle.net App → Warcraft III → Gear Icon → Scan and Repair.
  2. Ensure latest patch (Classic: 1.33.x; Reforged: 2.0.x).
  3. Delete Cache folder: ~/Library/Application Support/Blizzard/Warcraft III (Mac) or %APPDATA%\Blizzard\Warcraft III (Win).

4. Firewall / Antivirus / VPN

  • Temporarily disable Windows Defender / third-party AV → test.
  • Allow Warcraft III.exe, Battle.net.exe, Agent.exe through firewall (Inbound/Outbound).
  • Disable VPN/proxy—Battle.net blocks many VPN IPs.

5. Port Forwarding (If UPnP Fails)

Forward these on your router to your PC's static LAN IP:

  • TCP 1119, 3724, 6112, 6113, 6114, 4000
  • UDP 6112, 6113, 6114

Enable UPnP on router first—most setups work without manual ports.

6. Region & Account

  • Battle.net App → Globe icon → Select correct region (Americas, Europe, Asia).
  • Verify account not locked/suspended: account.battle.net.

7. Reforged-Specific

  • Toggle "Classic Mode" vs "Reforged" in launcher options—some custom games only work in one.
  • Custom maps require host to have map downloaded; auto-download fails if ports blocked.

Still Stuck?

  1. Collect: OS, exact error code (e.g., BLZBNTBGS000003F8), traceroute to us.actual.battle.net.
  2. Submit ticket: Blizzard Support → Warcraft III → Connection.
  3. Search Blizzard Forums for your error code.

Most fixes are #1–#4. Port forwarding (#5) is rarely needed on modern routers with UPnP.
