The Matrix: Path of Neo on PS3? Not Compatible.

No. The Matrix: Path of Neo was released exclusively on PlayStation 2 (and PC, Xbox) in 2005. It is not backward compatible on any PS3 model.

Why It Doesn't Work

• PS3 backward compatibility (on launch 60GB/20GB models) covers ~98% of PS2 titles—but Path of Neo is among the ~2% with emulation issues (likely due to its custom engine and heavy physics).
• Slim and Super Slim PS3s have zero PS2 hardware/software support.
• It was never re-released as a PS2 Classic on PSN.

How to Play It Today

• Original Hardware: PS2 disc + PS2 (or launch PS3 if you verify compatibility—rare).
• PC (GOG/Steam): Available digitally, often on sale. Runs on modern Windows with fixes.
• PS2 Emulation (PCSX2): Excellent compatibility, upscaling, widescreen patches. Requires legal BIOS dump + game dump.

Neo's journey stays on PS2/PC. The PS3 cannot follow.
