GTA IV Online on PS3: Servers Permanently Shut Down

You cannot play GTA IV Online on PS3 anymore.

Rockstar Games permanently shut down the PlayStation 3 (and Xbox 360) GameSpy/P2P master servers for GTA IV on December 16, 2021.

• Free Mode / Races / Deathmatches / Co-op: All inaccessible
• Leaderboards / Social Club Stats: Frozen

What Still Works

• Single Player (Story): Fully playable offline
• Local Split-Screen: Not in GTA IV. (GTA V has none; GTA SA/VC/III on PS2 had 2-player rampages)
• DLC Episodes (Lost and Damned, Ballad of Gay Tony): Single player works

Alternatives

• GTA V / GTA Online (PS4/PS5/PC/Xbox): Active, massive updates
• FiveM / RageMP (PC): Custom multiplayer mods for GTA V (and some IV ports)
• Xbox 360 Backward Compatibility (Xbox One/Series): GTA IV plays at 4K/60fps, but Online still disabled
