Value of a Broken PS3: What It's Worth & Where to Sell

There is no fixed price for a non-working PS3. Value depends entirely on:

  • Model: Fat (CECHA–CECHK) > Slim (CECH-20xx/21xx) > Super Slim (CECH-40xx). Backward-compatible Fats (CECHA/B/E) command a premium even broken.
  • Defect: YLOD (Yellow Light of Death) / RLOD / Blinking Red = likely BGA solder failure (repairable). No power = PSU or motherboard. Disc drive only = cheap fix.
  • Completeness: Cables, controller, box, receipt add value.
  • Market: eBay sold listings (filter “For parts/not working”) show real prices.

Typical Ranges (US, 2024 eBay “For Parts” Sold)

  • Fat BC (CECHA/B): $60–$120+
  • Fat Non-BC: $30–$60
  • Slim/Super Slim: $20–$45

Where to Sell

  • eBay: Largest buyer pool; buyer protection favors returns—describe faults meticulously.
  • Facebook Marketplace / Craigslist / OfferUp: Local cash, no shipping/fees, no returns.
  • Repair Shops / Refurbishers: Buy in bulk for parts; lowball offers ($10–$25).

Be honest: “Powers on but YLOD after 5 mins” sells better than “broken.”
