No PC required. The PS3 has built-in Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) and an Ethernet port. It connects directly to your router/modem.
Setup: Settings → Network Settings → Internet Connection → Easy/Custom → Select Wi-Fi or Wired → Enter password (if Wi-Fi) → Test Connection.
No PC intermediary needed.
