Xbox 360 Guitar Hero Controller on PS3? Not Compatible—Here's What to Buy

No, Xbox 360 Guitar Hero controllers do not work on PlayStation 3.

Why

• Different Wireless Protocols: 360 uses proprietary 2.4 GHz; PS3 uses Bluetooth.
• Different Wired Interface: 360 wired = proprietary connector + Xbox-specific USB HID. PS3 wired = standard USB HID.
• No Cross-Platform Drivers: Consoles don't load drivers for rival hardware.

What You Need Instead

• PS3 Guitar Hero Controller: Wireless (Bluetooth) or Wired (USB). Models: Les Paul (GH3/World Tour), Genericaster (GH5/Warriors of Rock), Stratocaster (Band Hero).
• Cross-Platform Adapter (Rare/Expensive): CronusMAX / Titan Two can translate 360 guitar → PS3, but adds latency, costs $60+, and may violate ToS.

Just buy a PS3 guitar. They're cheap used ($15–$30) and work natively.
