Diablo III Patch 1.0.5a: No Manual Install Needed

You do not install patch 1.0.5a manually. It is from October 2012. The game auto-updates to the current version (2.7.6+ / Season 29+) on launch.

How Updates Work

1. Launch Battle.net App (formerly Blizzard App).
2. Select Diablo III.
3. App checks version → Downloads delta patches → Applies → "Play" button active.
4. Game launches → Battle.net login → Current patch.

If Stuck on Old Version

• Repair Tool: Battle.net → Diablo III → ⚙️ → Scan and Repair.
• Delete Cache: C:\ProgramData\Battle.net\Agent (Win) / ~/Library/Application Support/Battle.net/Agent (Mac) → Delete Agent folder → Restart App.
• Reinstall: Uninstall via Battle.net → Reinstall (downloads latest).

Patch 1.0.5a Context

Added Monster Power (MP0-10), Infernal Machine (Ubers), Paragon System (pre-2.0). All superseded by Reaper of Souls (2.0) systems: Torment 1-16, Paragon 2.0, Adventure Mode. Irrelevant now.
