Creating Sub-Accounts / Child Accounts on PlayStation Network: Family Management Guide

PlayStation Network does not have traditional "sub-accounts." Instead, it uses **Family Management** with **Adult (Manager)** and **Child / Member** accounts. Each person gets their **own full PSN account** (unique email, password, Online ID).

Setup: Family Management (For Children Under 18)

  1. **Adult creates Manager Account** (or designates existing account as Manager).
  2. On console/web: Settings → Family Management → **Add Family Member** → **Create User** → Enter child's DOB.
  3. System auto-configures **Parental Controls** by age rating (ESRB/PEGI):
    • Play time limits
    • Spending limits (monthly wallet cap)
    • Communication restrictions (voice, text, UGC)
    • Browser / VR / Social Media blocks
  4. Child signs in with their own credentials. Manager approves friend requests / purchases via email/console notification.

Multiple Adults / Separate Users

  • Each adult creates **their own PSN account** (separate email).
  • Add as "Adult" in Family Management → No parental controls applied.
  • **Benefit:** Shared PS Plus benefits (online multiplayer, monthly games, cloud storage) on **one primary console** (Console Sharing and Offline Play).

What NOT To Do

  • Share your primary account credentials. Violates ToS. Risks ban, purchase loss, save corruption.
  • Buy "shared accounts" online. Stolen/farmed accounts. Permanent ban risk.

Key Limits

  • Max **7 family members** (1 Manager + 6 others).
  • Child account **graduates to Adult** automatically at 18 (Manager notified).
  • Each account needs **unique email**. Use aliases (e.g., `[email protected]`) if provider supports.

Family Management is the intended, secure way to manage multiple users on PlayStation.
