How to Earn Points by Signing Up for Xbox Live

Set Up Live Account

  Go to the Xbox Live website to sign up (see Resources).

  Select either "Go Gold Now" or "Get Family Pack Now" for your Live account. You can do this with either an existing account or by creating a new account. These are the only two membership types that earn you Reward Points. Selecting one of these two plans takes you to another part of the site.

  Sign in with your Xbox Live account, or create your new account after making your selection. Follow the on-screen prompts to sign in with your account if you have one or to set up a new account.

  Select your choice again for your membership. After you sign up or sign in, the Xbox Live website will prompt you a second time to select Gold Membership or Family Pack.

  Click "Next."

  Fill in your billing information and your payment information to set up your online account. By creating your first Live account with a Gold Membership or a Family Pack, you will earn Microsoft Reward Points.

  Check the email address you provided when signing up. The Windows Live Team will send you an automatic email with a link to click to confirm your account setup.

Earn Points

  Make your first purchase in the Xbox Live Marketplace to earn Reward Points. You can make purchases using your computer or your Xbox, and you can purchase a movie, game content or anything else to earn these first Reward Points.

  Set up and use Netflix on your Live account and you'll earn Reward Points.

  Take a survey sent out by Microsoft each month to earn Reward Points.

  Renew your membership when the time comes to earn more Reward Points.

  Look for other promotional offers, and select Xbox Live content to purchase. Often these earn you Reward Points as well.
