The Fox and Hound (1984) Was Not the First Video Game

The Fox and Hound (Sega, 1984, Master System) arrived decades after the first video games.

Earlier Milestones

• 1958: Tennis for Two (oscilloscope, Brookhaven Lab)
• 1962: Spacewar! (PDP-1, MIT) — first widely distributed
• 1971: Computer Space — first commercial arcade
• 1972: Pong — first mass-market arcade hit
• 1977: Atari 2600 — cartridge home console
• 1978: Space Invaders — golden age catalyst
• 1980: Pac-Man — cultural phenomenon
• 1981: Donkey Kong — Mario debut, platformer template

The Fox and Hound is a forgotten Master System title. The medium's roots run 26+ years deeper.
