MapleStory PC System Requirements (2024 Updated)

MapleStory (Global/KR) runs on a wide range of hardware. The 64-bit client (v.230+, 2022) dropped 32-bit OS support.

Minimum Requirements (Official Nexon)

• OS: Windows 10 64-bit (1909+) / Windows 11. (Win 7/8.1 no longer supported).
• CPU: Intel Core i3-2100 / AMD FX-4100 (2C/4T, ~3.1 GHz) or equivalent.
• RAM: 4 GB (8 GB strongly recommended for OS + Discord + Browser).
• GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4000 / AMD Radeon HD 7000 series / NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 (1 GB VRAM). DirectX 11 / Shader Model 5.0 required.
• Storage: 20 GB SSD/HDD (SSD highly recommended for map loading).
• Network: Broadband (5 Mbps+ stable; latency < 100ms to server region).

Recommended Requirements (Smooth 1080p/60fps + Multitasking)

• CPU: Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (6C/6T+).
• RAM: 16 GB DDR4 3200+.
• GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB / RTX 2060 / AMD RX 5600 XT / Intel Arc A750 (4 GB+ VRAM).
• Storage: NVMe SSD (500 GB+).

Critical Performance Notes

• Single-Thread Bound: MapleStory engine (C++/DirectX9→11) runs primarily on **1 CPU core**. High single-core frequency (4.5 GHz+) > Core count. i5-13600K / i7-13700K / Ryzen 7 7800X3D are overkill but buttery smooth.
• Integrated Graphics (iGPU): Intel Iris Xe (11th-13th Gen) / AMD Radeon 680M/780M run 1080p/Low-Med ~60fps. Disable "High Quality Background" / "Effect Transparency" in settings.
• Windows 10/11 Game Mode + Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling: ON.
• Nexon Launcher / Steam: Both work; Steam overlay can cause crashes (disable if issues).
• Mac: No native client. Use Windows via Boot Camp (Intel Mac only) or Parallels/VMware (poor perf). Cloud gaming (GeForce Now) works.
