GameShark Compatible Systems: Which Consoles?

GameShark (by Mad Catz / Interact Accessories) was released as a physical hardware device for the following major platforms:

  • Nintendo 64 (v3.0 – v3.3 most common; Pro series v4.0+ with parallel port)
  • PlayStation (PS1) (v1.0 – v5.0; "Lite" versions; spring-loaded disc swap trick)
  • PlayStation 2 (v1 – v5; "Media Player" editions with USB/HDD support)
  • Game Boy Advance / SP (Cartridge-based device, passes through to Slot-1)
  • Game Boy Color (Cartridge-based)
  • Nintendo DS (GameShark DS / Action Replay DS — distinct hardware, Slot-1)
  • Dreamcast (GameShark CDX — boot disc + serial dongle)

Notable Absences (No Official GameShark Hardware)

  • GameCube — Used Action Replay (Datel) / SD Media Launcher / XenoGC.
  • Xbox (Original) — Used Action Replay Xbox / softmods (TSOP/EEPROM).
  • PSP — CFW + plugins (see Article 96152).
  • Wii / Wii U / Switch / PS3 / PS4 / PS5 / Xbox 360 / Xbox One / Series X|S — All use softmods, CFW, or no cheat hardware exists.

Note: "GameShark" branding was sometimes licensed for PC software (GameShark Pro PC — memory scanner for Windows games) but hardware devices were console-only.

If you have a console not listed above, you need Action Replay (Datel), CodeBreaker (Pelican), Xploder, or modern softmod/CFW solutions.
