Call of Duty 5 Doesn’t Exist — It’s World at War (2008) and the Series Has Moved On

There is no game titled simply “Call of Duty 5.” The fifth main entry is Call of Duty: World at War (2008), developed by Treyarch and set in World War II.

The numbered convention ended after Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The latest mainline release (2023) is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III — a direct sequel to 2022’s Modern Warfare II, itself a reboot of the sub-series.

Platforms for Modern Warfare III (2023)

• PlayStation 5
• PlayStation 4
• Xbox Series X|S
• Xbox One
• PC (Steam & Battle.net)

If you’re asking about the historical “CoD 5,” World at War launched on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC, and DS.
