Which World of Warcraft Game Should You Buy? (2024 Guide)

There is only one World of Warcraft — a single evolving MMORPG. You don't choose between "games"; you choose which expansion to start with (all included in subscription).

Current State (The War Within Era)

• Base game + all expansions through Dragonflight are included with a monthly subscription ($14.99/mo) or game time.
• The War Within (2024) is the latest expansion — requires separate purchase ($49.99+).

Decision Factors

• New player: Subscribe → level 1–70 in Chromie Time (pick any expansion timeline) → current content.
• Returning: Buy The War Within if you want max-level content (delves, earthen allied race, hero talents).
• Budget: Sub only = full game minus latest expansion.
• Classic eras: WoW Classic Era (vanilla), Hardcore, Cataclysm Classic, Mists Classic (2025) — separate servers, same sub.

No "which game" choice — just subscribe and play. Try the free trial (level 20 cap) first.
