Can You Copy All Memory at Once in Cheat Engine?

No. Cheat Engine (CE) cannot "copy everything" (full process memory dump) in a single click via its UI, and attempting to scan/select the entire 2GB-4GB+ user-mode address space is impractical.

Why It's Not a Feature

  • Massive Size: Modern games allocate 4GB-16GB+ virtual memory. Dumping all to disk freezes the process for minutes, creates huge files, and often crashes the target or CE.
  • Dynamic/Volatile: Memory changes every frame. A full dump is a stale snapshot instantly.
  • Protected Regions: Kernel memory, guard pages, and anti-cheat protected regions (e.g., BattlEye, EAC, Vanguard) cause access violations (STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED) if read.
  • Purpose Mismatch: CE is for reverse engineering (finding specific values, pointers, code injection), not forensic imaging.

What To Do Instead

  1. Targeted Scans: "Exact Value" → "Decreased/Increased/Changed" to isolate your variable (health, ammo, money).
  2. Pointer Scans: Once you find an address, use "Pointer Scanner" to find a static base + offset chain (e.g., `[[["Game.exe"+0x123456]+10]+8]`). Save the pointer table (.CT).
  3. Memory Regions: In "Memory View" → Tools → "Define Memory Regions" → Select only "Heap" or "Stack" or a specific module (e.g., `UnityPlayer.dll`) to scan/dump relevant sections.
  4. Save Specific Addresses: Add found addresses to the Address List (bottom pane) → Right-click → "Save as .CT" or export values to text.
  5. Full Dump (Advanced): Use Process Hacker / Process Explorer / WinDbg / x64dbg → "Create Dump File" (Mini/Full) for offline analysis. This is the correct tool for full memory capture.

⚠️ Critical Warnings

  • Anti-Cheat: Running CE with protected games (Valorant, Destiny 2, etc.) triggers instant bans—even if just attached, not scanning.
  • Malware Risk: Only download CE from cheatengine.org. Many "CE downloads" are trojans.
  • Ethics/Legal: Single-player/offline modding is generally fine. Online multiplayer cheating violates TOS/EULA, ruins others' experience, and can lead to lawsuits (e.g., Bossland vs Blizzard).
