Flying in Minecraft: No Cheat Code, But Three Legit Ways to Soar

There is no "fly cheat code" in vanilla Minecraft. Flight is a game mechanic accessed through legitimate means:

1. Creative Mode (Java / Bedrock / Console / Education)

• Open to LAN → Enable Cheats → /gamemode creative (or /gamemode 1).
• Double-tap Jump (Space / A / X) → Fly. Double-tap again → Fall. Hold Jump / Sneak to ascend/descend.
• Perks: Instant break, infinite blocks, invincibility, mobs ignore you.

2. Survival Mode: Elytra (Wings) + Firework Rockets

• Get Elytra: Defeat Ender Dragon → Enter End Gateway (throw Ender Pearl) → Find End City → Loot Item Frame in the ship.
• Equip: Chestplate slot.
• Fly: Jump from height → Jump again mid-air to glide. Boost: Use Firework Rockets (Paper + Gunpowder, NO Firework Star — star = explosion damage) while gliding. Right-click / LT / L2 to boost.
• Repair: Mending enchantment + XP, or combine with Phantom Membranes in an Anvil.

3. Survival Mode: Potion of Levitation (Bedrock / Education Only)

• Brew: Awkward Potion + Shulker Shell (dropped by Shulkers in End Cities).
• Effect: Float upward for 30s (Levitation I). Dangerous—fall damage when it ends. Pair with Elytra or Water Bucket MLG.

Commands (If Cheats Enabled / OP)

• /effect give @p levitation 30 10 (High level = rocket speed).
• /ability @p mayfly true (Education/Bedrock: enables Creative-style flight in Survival).

Java Edition: No Levitation potion. No /ability. Creative or Elytra only.
