How to Get a Custom Town Tune in Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)

You cannot import custom audio or use external tools in Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS). The town tune composer is limited to the **in-game piano (16 notes, 1 octave, 16 beats max)**.

What You *Can* Do In-Game

  1. Go to **Town Hall** → Talk to **Pelican (Pelly/Phyllis)** → "Change Town Tune."
  2. Use the **touchscreen piano**: Tap notes (A–G, 2 octaves), rests, tempo.
  3. **16 slots max.** Each note = 1 beat. Rests count as beats.
  4. Press **Play** to preview. **Confirm** to save.

Creating Good Tunes Within Limits

  • Transcribe simple melodies: "Mary Had a Little Lamb," "Ode to Joy," "Tetris Theme (Korobeiniki)," "Mario Main Theme (simplified)."
  • Use online converters: Search **"Animal Crossing town tune converter"** → sites like nooknet.net/tune or acnh.town/tune (works for WW/CF/NL/NH). Input MIDI/notes → get note sequence.
  • Share via Friend Code: Visit friend's town → hear their tune → transcribe by ear.

What You *Can't* Do

  • Import MP3/WAV/MIDI.
  • Use more than 16 beats.
  • Use sharps/flats (only natural notes A–G).
  • Change instrument (always piano timbre).
  • Download tunes online (no Wi-Fi tune sharing in WW — added in New Leaf).

Later Games Have Better Tools

For true custom tunes, play **New Horizons**. For WW, embrace the 16-note challenge—it's part of the charm.
