Can You Play as Megatron in Transformers: Decepticons (DS)? Only Briefly

No, you cannot play as Megatron for the main campaign. Transformers: Decepticons (DS, 2007, Vicarious Visions) follows a fixed narrative where you create a custom Decepticon recruit and serve under Starscream (the protagonist). Megatron is the antagonist / faction leader you report to.

Megatron Interactions in the Game

• Story Cutscenes: Megatron appears in key narrative moments giving orders, berating Starscream, or confronting Autobots.
• Boss Battles: You fight alongside Megatron (AI ally) in specific missions (e.g., final assault on Autobot base).
• Brief Playable Segments: There are very short, scripted sequences (usually boss fights like vs. Optimus Prime) where the game temporarily shifts control to Megatron. You do not free‑roam or customize him.
• Multiplayer (Local Wireless): You can play as Megatron (and other unlockable ’Cons) in Versus Mode via Local Wireless (DS to DS). Not single‑player campaign.

If You Want to Play as Megatron Properly

• Transformers: War for Cybertron / Fall of Cybertron (PS3/360/PC): Megatron is a central playable character in Campaign (Decepticon chapters) and Escalation/Multiplayer.
• Transformers: Devastation (PlatinumGames, PS3/4/PC): Play as Megatron (DLC / Unlock).
• Transformers: Battlegrounds (Tactical): Playable Leader.

On DS, you are the “Create‑a‑Con.” Embrace the minion life.
