Can You Sell Items in Nintendogs? No—Here's How the Economy Works

You cannot sell items in Nintendogs. There is no shop interface, no currency exchange between players, and no “Pawn Shop” mechanic. The game uses Trainer Points (TP) as a progression metric, not a currency.

How the Economy Works

  • Earn TP: Walking (Steps), Disc Competitions (Placement), Obedience Trials, Touching/Voice Commands (Daily), Bark Mode (StreetPass/DS Wireless).
  • Spend TP: Unlock New Breeds, Interiors (House Styles), Toys, Accessories, Music Records. You “Buy” unlocks with TP. Items are then free/infinite in your supplies.
  • No Trading: You cannot give items to other players (Bark Mode exchanges Profile Card + Current Dog Data, not inventory items).

What You Can Do (Core Gameplay Loop)

  • Care: Feed (Dry Food/Cans), Water, Brush, Bathe, Pet (Stylus), Talk (Mic).
  • Train: Teach Tricks (Sit, Spin, Jump, Backflip, Breakdance, Handstand, etc.) via Voice + Touch. Consistency = Mastery.
  • Compete: Disc Competition (Park – Throw, Call, Catch), Agility Trial (Gym – Obstacle Course), Obedience Trial (Park – Trick Routine). Win → TP + Crowns.
  • Walk: Map Screen → Route. Encounter: ? Presents (Items), Dogs (Socialize), Cats (Chase), People (Tips). Pedometer (Steps) = TP.
  • Breed: Compatible Breeds + High Friendship + “Friendly” Personality + Time → Puppy (Inherits Breed/Color/Traits). Max 3 Dogs in House + 5 in Hotel = 8 Total.
  • Customize: Interior Themes (Unlock via TP), Dog Accessories (Hats, Glasses, Collars, Shirts).

Nintendogs is a Tamagotchi‑like Virtual Pet Simulator. The joy is the routine, not accumulation/wealth.
