Estimating Your Nintendo DS Resale Value: Key Factors & Price Ranges

I can't buy your DS, but here's how to determine its market value.

Identify Your Model

  • Original DS ("Phat") – 2004, larger, lower res screens.
  • DS Lite – 2006, slimmer, brighter screens, most common.
  • DSi – 2009, cameras, SD slot, DSiWare, no GBA slot.
  • DSi XL – 2010, larger screens.

Assess Condition

  • New/Sealed: Boxed, never opened. Highest value.
  • Excellent: No scratches, hinges tight, screens perfect, original charger/stylus.
  • Good: Minor wear, functional hinges, maybe missing stylus/charger.
  • Fair/Poor: Cracked hinge (common), scratched screens, missing parts, cosmetic damage.

Extras That Add Value

  • Original box, manuals, inserts.
  • Charger (official Nintendo preferred).
  • Games (especially Pokémon, Zelda, Mario titles).
  • Case, screen protectors, extra styluses.
  • Flashcart (R4, etc.)—note: legally gray; may deter some buyers.

Check Current Prices

  • eBay "Sold Listings" (filter by model/condition) – most accurate.
  • PriceCharting.com – tracks historical values.
  • Facebook Marketplace / Mercari / OfferUp – local prices.
  • GameStop / Retro Stores – trade-in value (lower) vs. retail price.

Rough 2024 Ranges (USD, loose console): DS Lite $30–55 | DSi $40–70 | DSi XL $50–90 | Original DS $25–45. Boxed/complete: +50–100%.
