Hiroshi Yamauchi did not "discover" the Nintendo 64. As President of Nintendo (1949–2002), he oversaw, authorized, and drove its development.
Yamauchi's authoritarian leadership and hardware risk-taking defined Nintendo's golden era (NES, Game Boy, SNES, N64). The N64 sold 32.93M units—profitable but behind PS1. His successor, Satoru Iwata, shifted to blue-ocean strategy (DS, Wii).
