Cause

• Data Overlap: Pokémon data structures overlapped with other game data.
• Trigger: Old Man dialogue glitch (Viridian City) corrupted encounter data, spawning MissingNo.

Why It's Famous

• Exploitable for item duplication (Rare Candy ×128).
• Glitch Pokémon with surreal sprites/stats.
• Became a cultural icon of early Pokémon bugs.

Nintendo patched similar issues in later generations.
