Can You Connect a Nintendo DS to a Wii? No Direct Link—But a Few Games Had Cross-Play

No direct connection exists. DS and Wii are separate platforms with different hardware, OS, and no built-in data link. You cannot "sync" them like a phone and watch.

Limited Historical Interactions (Specific Games Only)

  • Pokémon Battle Revolution (Wii) ↔ Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum/HeartGold/SoulSilver (DS): Transfer Pokémon, battle on TV using DS as controller. Requires both games + Wii/DS online (WFC dead, Wiimmfi restores).
  • Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time (DS & Wii): Cross-play via local wireless. DS players join Wii host. Same game, different SKUs.
  • Pokémon Ranch (WiiWare): Stores Pokémon from DS games. No gameplay—just storage/display. WFC dead.
  • Everyone's Nintendo Channel (Wii) → DS Download Play: Wii sent DS demos (e.g., Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem) via Download Play. Service dead.

What You Can Do Instead

  • Play DS games on DS/3DS/2DS.
  • Play Wii games on Wii/Wii U.
  • Use DS as a second screen for the specific Wii games listed above (requires both carts, Wiimmfi for online).

No Universal Link

No "DS to Wii cable," no Bluetooth pairing, no shared account sync (Nintendo Network ID / Nintendo Account came later). Each console stands alone.

If you want cross-device play, Switch + mobile (some games) or PS4/PS5 + Remote Play are modern equivalents.
