Can You Get Skype on Nintendo DSi? No — Hardware & OS Limitations

No. The Nintendo DSi lacks an app store, modern OS, and hardware (no microphone on original DSi; DSi XL has one but no Skype support) to run Skype.

Why It's Impossible

• No download platform – DSi Shop only offered DSiWare (games/apps by Nintendo/partners). Skype never released there.
• Hardware limits – 16 MB RAM, 256 MHz ARM9, no persistent Wi-Fi background tasks.
• Skype requirements – Needs iOS/Android/Windows/macOS/Linux; DSi OS is proprietary and closed.

Alternatives for Portable Calls

• Smartphone – Full Skype, Zoom, Discord, FaceTime.
• Tablet – Same apps, larger screen.
• PSP / PS Vita – Had official Skype app (PSP Slim+Lite, Vita).
• Laptop – Most versatile.

If you only have a DSi, you cannot make VoIP calls on it.
