Nintendogs: There Is No "Naptime Record"—But Here's How to Encourage Rest

Nintendogs does not track a "naptime record." Unlike Obedience Trials, Agility, Disc Competitions, or Owner Info stats, the game logs no metric for how long, how often, or how quickly your puppy sleeps.

Why Naps Matter (Mechanically)

  • Affection Recovery: A tired pup's affection meter drops; napping restores it.
  • Energy for Contests: Well-rested dogs perform better in Disc/Agility/Obedience.
  • Behavior: Sleep-deprived puppies may ignore commands or whine.

How to Get Your Pup to Nap Reliably

  1. Exhaust Them First: 10–15 min of **Disc Competition** (free play) or **Agility Course** runs. High exertion = guaranteed nap.
  2. Feed a Full Meal: Dry Food / Canned Food → "Full" status → drowsiness.
  3. Use the "Sit" + "Stay" Chain: Calm commands lower excitement.
  4. Leave Them Alone: Close the lid (sleep mode) or return to the home menu for 5+ real minutes. The game simulates rest off-screen.
  5. Time of Day: In-game afternoon/evening (check the clock) increases natural sleep probability.

What *Is* Tracked (For Completionists)

  • Trainer Points – Unlock breeds, interiors, items.
  • Contest Records – Disc distance, Agility time, Obedience score.
  • Trick Mastery – All 14 tricks learned.
  • Walks – Distance, presents found, neighbor dogs met.

So while you can't earn a "Gold Napper" trophy, a well-rested pup is a happy, obedient, high-scoring pup. Let sleeping dogs lie—literally.
