How to Register Rare Pokemon in a Pokedex

The "Pokemon" games include more than 10 roleplaying games on various Nintendo handheld consoles. All are fairly similar, and all include the Pokedex, which logs the various Pokemon you encounter throughout each game. The original games required you to catch a Pokemon before it was added to your Pokedex. All versions released on the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS simply require you to see a Pokemon to add it. Filling your Pokedex brings with it various rewards, depending on the game.

Instructions

  Play through the game until you encounter a rare Pokemon. Each of the "Pokemon" games has different rare Pokemon for you to find and try to capture. While most Pokemon are hidden in grass, water or caves, rare Pokemon are clearly visible.

  Walk up to the rare Pokemon and stand facing the creature. For some, this starts the battle; for others, press "A" to begin the battle.

  Battle the Pokemon until its health is low, then try to catch it with a powerful Poke Ball, like the Great Ball. The earlier "Pokemon" games require you to catch a Pokemon to add it to your Pokedex, but newer versions of the game only require you to see the Pokemon in battle to add it. Try to catch the Pokemon regardless --- rare Pokemon are often some of the strongest in the game.
