Can the Nintendo 3DS Play DS and DSi Games?

Yes, the Nintendo 3DS is backward compatible with both Nintendo DS and DSi games.

How It Works

• Cartridge Compatibility: The 3DS uses the same game card slot as the DS/DSi, so you can insert your old cartridges directly.
• Hardware & Software Support: The 3DS includes the necessary components to run DS/DSi software.

Things to Note

• No 3D Effect: DS/DSi games display in 2D only.
• Screen Size Difference: The 3DS screens are larger, so games may have slightly larger borders.

Overall, the 3DS is an excellent way to revisit your DS/DSi library while enjoying the 3DS’s other features.
