Restarting Nintendogs: New Profile, Full Reset, or New Dog?

Nintendogs doesn't have a simple "New Game" button that wipes everything. Your options depend on the platform and what you're trying to achieve.

Option 1: Create a New Save Profile (Best for Fresh Start)

• Nintendo DS / 3DS / 2DS: The game supports multiple save slots. From the main menu, choose New Game → select an empty slot → start with a new puppy, zero progress.
• This preserves your old save file in another slot.

Option 2: Delete Save Data (Permanent, All Progress Lost)

• DS (original): System Settings → Data Management → Nintendogs → Erase. Irreversible.
• 3DS/2DS: System Settings → Data Management → Software → Nintendogs → Delete Save Data.
• Use only if you're certain you never want the old data back.

Option 3: Adopt a New Dog (Keep Current Progress)

• Visit the Kennel / Hotel → "Adopt a Dog." Choose a different breed.
• You'll train it from scratch while keeping your existing dogs, money, items, and trainer points.

Recommendation: Use Option 1 (new slot) for a clean restart without losing your original file. Option 2 is nuclear. Option 3 lets you experience a new breed without starting over.
