Can 3DS Games Play on DS or DSi?

No, 3DS games are completely incompatible with DS and DSi systems.

Hardware Barriers

• Processor: 3DS uses ARM11 dual-core + ARM9; DS/DSi use ARM9 + ARM7
• Graphics: 3DS has PICA200 GPU; DS/DSi have 2D-only engines
• Memory: 3DS has 128MB FCRAM + 64MB VRAM; DS/DSi have 4MB/16MB
• Cartridge Slot: 3DS cards have different pinout and physical keying

What Happens If You Insert a 3DS Cartridge

• DS/DSi won't recognize the cartridge
• No damage occurs (physical keying prevents full insertion)
• System displays "No cartridge" or error message

3DS games require 3DS family hardware (3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, New 3DS).
