Connecting Nintendo DS to Wi-Fi: Built-In, No Adapter Needed (But Service Limited)

The DS/DS Lite/DSi/3DS have built-in Wi-Fi (802.11b). No external adapter needed.

Connection Steps

  1. System Settings → Internet → Connection Settings.
  2. Choose "None" → "Search for Access Point".
  3. Select your SSID → Enter WEP/WPA key (DS/DSL only support WEP; DSi/3DS support WPA2).
  4. Test Connection.

⚠️ Critical Limitation

Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (WFC) shut down May 20, 2014.

  • No online multiplayer, leaderboards, or matchmaking for DS/DSi games.
  • DSi Shop closed 2017.
  • Only local wireless (DS-to-DS) works for supported titles.

For online play, use 3DS (still has limited eShop) or Switch.
