Assassin's Creed Revelations Multiplayer (2011) — Modes, Status, Legacy

Assassin's Creed Revelations (ACR) multiplayer is the **peak of the classic "Social Stealth" PvP formula** (introduced in Brotherhood). However, **official servers are shut down** (Ubisoft decommissioned legacy MP services ~2022–2023).

Original Modes (At Launch)

• Wanted (FFA): 8 players. Hunt target, avoid hunter. Stealth = points. Variety bonuses (Hidden, Focus, Poacher, etc.).
• Team Wanted / Manhunt: 4v4. Offense/Defense rounds. Manhunt = Hide/Seek.
• Artifact Assault (CTF): Steal artifact, return to base. Stun mechanics.
• Chest Capture (Domination): Hold zones.
• Escort: VIP protection.
• Deathmatch: No compass. Line-of-sight only. Pure skill.
• Simple Deathmatch: No abilities/perks. Just kill.
• Corruption (Co-op vs AI): 4 players survive waves. Added in DLC.

Progression & Customization

• Abilities (3 slots): Disguise, Smoke Bomb, Morph, Decoy, Tripwire, Charge, Bodyguard, Teleport, Poison, Closure, etc. Unlock by Level (1–50) + Prestige (1–99).
• Perks (Passive): Fast Getaway, Blender, Overall Cooldowns, etc.
• Streaks (Kill/Score): Additional abilities (Templar Vision, Arrow Storm).
• Customization: Personas (skins), Colors, Taunts, Emblems, Titles.

Why It Was Special

• Tension over Twitch: Walking = safe. Running = visible. "The Hunter becomes the Hunted."
• Variety System: Rewarded diverse kills (Focus, Acrobatic, Hidden, Bench, Aerial, Poison, Stun).
• Map Design: Constantinople, Galata, Knight Hospital, Ippokratous, Antioch, Mont St-Michel — verticality, crowds, chase breakers.

Current State (2024)

• Official Matchmaking: DEAD. "Abstergo Network" errors. No lobbies form.
• Private Matches: May work via direct invite (P2P) if both have game + DLC + port forwarding. Unreliable.
• Community Revival (PC): **Project Legacy / ACR Multiplayer Revival** (Discord/GitHub) — Custom master server, dedicated lobbies, anti-cheat. Requires Steam/Epic copy + Mod loader. **Active small community.**
• Console: No revival. Jailbroken (PS3/RGH) + LAN tunneling (XLink Kai) only.

Best Way to Experience It Today

1. Watch high-level gameplay (YouTube: **TheHiddenBlade, Stabguy, MrBlack360**).
2. Play **Assassin's Creed Brotherhood** (PC) via **Project Legacy** — larger population.
3. Play **AC Unity / Syndicate** — No MP.
4. Play **AC Valhalla / Mirage** — Single player only.
