Do You Need a Data Transfer to Play Wii Games on Your Device?

The question references an unspecified device "u." To answer accurately, I need clarification:

• Is "u" a Wii U? (Native backward compatibility—no transfer needed for disc games; Wii Shop purchases transfer via Nintendo Network ID.)
• A homebrew Wii? (USB loaders, NAND emulation.)
• An emulator (Dolphin on PC/Android)? (ISO files, no transfer.)
• A custom hardware (Wii mini, modded vWii)?

Please specify the exact device/platform, and I'll give a precise answer regarding data transfer requirements.
