Playing rFactor for Free Online: Not Possible — But Here Are Free Alternatives

rFactor (1 & 2) are paid sims — no free online version exists.

Why

  • rFactor 1 (2005): Buy license ($20–40 historical). Master server dead; community runs matchmaker (rFactor Central) — still needs license.
  • rFactor 2 (2013, Studio 397): Steam ($35–45) or standalone. Active online: Ranked, leagues, scheduled races. Requires purchase.
  • Dedicated Servers: Most leagues run private servers (passworded). Public servers exist but sparse.
