Gears of War 2 Multiplayer: Xbox Live Not Required (LAN Works)

Xbox Live Gold is NOT required for Gears of War 2 multiplayer.

The game supports System Link (LAN): connect multiple Xbox 360s via Ethernet cables/switch for local multiplayer without any subscription.

Limitations

• LAN only — same physical location.
• No matchmaking, leaderboards, or online features.
• Requires multiple consoles, copies, displays.

Xbox Live Benefits

• Online matchmaking worldwide.
• Persistent stats, leaderboards, DLC access.
• Voice chat, party system.

Choose LAN for free local play; Live for full online experience.
